AT&T's Plano HQ land sells to developer-backed group

AT&T's Plano HQ land sells to developer-backed group

An entity tied to Dallas-based developer KDC has acquired the 54-acre site in Plano where AT&T intends to construct its new corporate campus. The deal, finalized earlier this week, transfers ownership of the land that has long been associated with the telecommunications giant's headquarters plans.

The property, located near the intersection of Dallas North Tollway and State Highway 121, was purchased by an LLC registered to KDC. The developer has a history of building large-scale corporate campuses for major companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

AT&T announced last year that it would consolidate its operations into a new campus on this site, moving away from its current sprawling complex in downtown Dallas. The company has been working to reduce its real estate footprint as part of broader cost-cutting measures and a shift toward more flexible work arrangements. The new campus is expected to accommodate thousands of employees in a modern, efficient setting.

KDC's involvement suggests the developer will likely manage the construction and possibly the long-term ownership of the facilities, with AT&T leasing the space. This structure allows the telecom company to avoid the upfront capital costs of building its own headquarters while still securing a custom-designed workspace. Construction timelines have not been announced, but the sale marks a significant step forward for the project.
